On the 1st floor of the Cultural Center, in a specially designed, bright and pleasant space, you will find the Library. This is a service of the Foundation (Legal Entity governed by Private Law) and operates according to the standards of the country’s Public and Municipal Library, as well as the UNESCO Declaration on libraries.

The Library’s Collection counts nearly 6000 titles that cover all areas of knowledge, with an especially large literary section that includes classic, modern, Greek and foreign literature. It also offers periodicals, information material and a rich Children’s Section with books catering for all, from preschoolers to teenagers.

It is fully automated, based on the KOHA Integrated Library Automation System (ILS). Its organisation follows the Anglo-American Cataloguing Rules (AACR2) and the Dewey Decimal Classification system.

The library areas that are available to the public include a reading room, an Information Center and a cafeteria.

The Library functions as a lending library, while it also organises events, seminars and training programmes. A Reading Club was also created and meets once a month, under the guidance of Ms Alexandra Papazoglou, a Librarian at the Athens Colleges and President of the Librarians of Greece.

Chess lessons are held weekly for primary school pupils in the Reading Room.

The purpose of the Library is to effectively contribute, both at a cultural and an intellectual level, to the local community, assisted by educational programmes, historical and literary tributes, in order to highlight and promote a love of reading, creativity, innovation and information. It thus supports and promotes educational and information services in all formats (printed, audiovisual, electronic), with specialised staff to inform and guide users.
